Top shoot Lillicombe opens the doors to its own Culbone Stables Inn.
Non-invited guests will be able to dine at Culbone Stables from April as Lillicombe Estate opens the doors to its restaurant with rooms.
Managed by chef Merrick Webber Culbone Stables is a bolt hole on remote Exmoor and minutes away from the North Devon coast with spectacular views and walks.
The Lillicombe estate, owned by businessman Rupert Martin, is one of the top shoots in the country and in the season The Culbone Stables Inn is used by the shoot for dinners and rooms for invited guests.
What makes it unique for new visitors is that the whole place has been put together with comfort in mind and in chef Merrick Webber there will always be a good meal to be had.
“I want the food to be as English as possible,” Webber told The Great Game Guide. “We have such amazing ingredients in this part of the world and my aim is to treat them as simply as possible. So, there will be venison and pigeon from the estate and oysters from nearby Purlock.
“I’m excited that we are opening our doors as there are not many other good restaurants in this part of Exmoor. It can feel a bit remote but our positioning on the A39 between Minehead and Lynton means that travellers now have somewhere to stop.”
We’re very much looking forward to joining Merrick next month for a spectacular seven-course game tasting menu, which sounds absolutely delicious.
