Hanks Makes The Countryside Finals

The Countryside Alliance Awards for 2022/23 have reached the finals stage. Hanks’ Meat & Game, based in Herefordshire, are celebrating reaching the Midland’s final for best butcher.

The Awards, now in their 16th year, celebrate rural businesses that go the extra mile and support their local economy and are, often, the unsung heroes in every community. Across the country last year the awards received 18,000 nominations. There are 128 regional finalists every year.

More than 9,000 rural businesses have been recognised and 800 have been crowned champions over the last 15 years.

Tim Hanks said: “This is a very big award with a long history. We are delighted to have reached the final for the Midlands. There are some very good businesses who have reached the final of the butcher category and we’re pleased to be amongst them.”

The finalists for Midlands butchers are:

  • Eric Lyons Butchers in the West Midlands
  • Geoff Mycock & Son in Derbyshire
  • Paul Shum Family Butchers in Staffordshire
  • The Wyre Pie Company in Worcestershire
  • Hanks’ Meat & Game in Herefordshire

Voting has now closed and winners will be announced in 2023. There will be a Champions Reception at The House of Lords on 17th May 2023
