The East End Arms is a charming New Forest Inn with a fascinating history. It was bought by the Dire Straits bass player, John Illsley in 1990 to preserve it for the local community and is still going strong. In the kitchen game lover Ian Gibbs keeps up the local tradition of souring everything for the menu from as close to the Inn as possible. We spotted a pressed game terrine on a recent menu. Guests can also stay over and there’s an interesting wine list by Helen McGinn of the “Knackered Mothers Wine Club.”
