If you happened on The Masons Arms without knowing about it you’d probably describe it as the quintessential thatched pub. It certainly looks gorgeous. But chocolate boxes need exciting centres and inside is where it matters here. Chef Mark Dodson was head chef at The Waterside Inn under the late Michel Roux OBE and that means the food on offer is first class. The Michelin star attests to that. You’ll find game on the menu through the season and you can expect it to be give due respect and handled with real skill.
